Germany launches programmes to draw international students to its workforce

Study Abroad in Germany has unveiled a new programme aimed at bringing in foreign graduates and students and preparing them to serve as future specialists in the German labour market.The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports the programme, which was started by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The new project will get €120 million in funding from the BMBF through 2028.In order to address the lack of trained workers in the nation, the new project aims to recruit recent graduates, train them, and grant them the necessary qualifications to reside and work in Germany. The programme by FIT for Study Abroad in Germany

Under the Promotion of International Talent for Integration into Studies and the Labour Market programme, commonly referred to as the FIT Programme, universities will provide customized support services for study abroad in Germany, such as preparatory courses and ancillary programmes, to international students in order to support their academic success and eventual entry into the workforce. These specially designed assistance initiatives aim to help international students at different stages of their study become more socially integrated."Germany is in third place in the global ranking of the most popular countries to study in," federal education minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger said during the initiative's inauguration. The strong likelihood of staying in Germany for the duration of their careers has already played a significant role in the decision of many international students to study there in the past.Our goal with the 'Campus Initiative for International Professionals' is to offer customized assistance to foreign students while they pursue their education and adjust to the German workforce. After all, for our nation to thrive and prosper, we desperately need more sharp brains and industrious hands.German universities that are interested in participating will be chosen for these projects. Until 2028 for study abroad in Germany, at least 70 such projects at particular institutions will get funding, with each project receiving about €1 million.

The Profi plus programme for Study Abroad in Germany

The programme examines academic credentials that are tailored to the German job market. Students who already hold a foreign degree from an institution and have overseas work experience are the target audience for this programme.Assistance in modifying their qualifications for the German job market will be provided to these students. In addition to specific training, job-related language and communication training as well as coaching in application writing will be provided. Funding for 25 university initiatives has been set aside for the Profi + scheme; each project will receive €700,000 till 2028."With this initiative, we are expanding the opportunities for our member universities to qualify and support international talent during their studies, at graduation, and during their transition into the German labor market," said Joybrato Mukherjee, president of DAAD, in reference to the program's benefits for both German and foreign students.By doing this, we are enhancing the assimilation of foreign students into our society and colleges. In addition, we help to address the skilled labor shortage by ensuring that young people from all over the world have greater job options in Germany following their successful completion of their studies."
